This day was our visit to Disney's private island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay. It was a beautiful island with beautiful vegetation imported by Disney. The native plantlife was mostly grass and sand.

The water was beautiful. The fish were beautiful. The whole place was like a little paradise.

We went out in a glass bottom boat as our first activity and saw a number of fish out among the coral. Then we came back to shore and spent most of the rest of the day at the adult beach snorkeling, sunbathing, eating and shopping.

5 - Disney World Day 4 -- The Magic Kingdom

Today we finally get to the Magic Kingdom by taking a boat ride across the lake from the Polynesian to the MK.

The Magic Kingdom was the busiest park of all. Yet, DW had a way of moving lines along so that we never waited more than about 10 minutes for any ride. On rides that had a wait, we did FastPass.

The MK was open until midnight this night. We left about 11 pm.

My favorite ride; Splash Mountain. Deni's favorite; the fireworks. It was also good to see the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse again since the tree at Disneyland now has a Tarzan theme.

4 - Disney World Day 3 -- Epcot

On day 3, we headed for Epcot. We started out seeing "Soarin'" which was brought in from California Adventure at Disneyland. "Soarin" is similar to the old Circle Vision Theatre at Disneyland, only you are sitting in a long flying row of seats that is raised into a 3-story high circular, concave screen. When the movie starts, it feels like you are really flying over the landscape. The landscape is the state of California (the original ride at California Adventure is called "Soarin Over California". The ride here at Epcot is virtually the same.

As we wandered through a beautiful rose garden, we ended up at the World Showcase Lagoon. This is a rather large lake at the south end of Epcot. All around the lagoon are pavilions representing the nations of the world.

The evening was topped off with "Illuminations", a light show / fireworks and music with the theme of the world community. It was spectacular.

The 2nd day at Disney World took us to the Disney MGM Studios park. Inside this park are rides like the Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Lights Motors Action and Fantasmic.

By the way, upon entering every park, your bags get searched and you have to present picture I.D. There was security everywhere we went, whether it was our airlines, Disney World parks and the Disney Cruise Line. Everyone is very tight on security these days.

Enjoy the pictures.

Okay, we are now checked into the Polynesian Resort on the Disney property and headed out to our first park; Animal Kingdom. This is the newest park at Disney World that has a jungle/safari theme with real animals.

1 - Our arrival at Disney World

We just returned from our 4 day Disney World / 3 day Cruise to Nassau in the Bahamas. We also spent a day at the Kennedy Space Center, 2 days in Atlanta, GA and 4 days in Virginia Beach, VA.

Disney handles visitors really well. There was a man waiting for us as we got off the plane. He directed us to the Disney area of the airport. From there, they quickly checked us in, boarded us on a bus and we were off to the Polynesian Resort.

Nothing to it.

My daughters and I went to Disneyland in 1996

Our trip to Disney World, Nassau, Cape Canaveral, Atlanta and Virginia Beach

We haven't taken the trip yet, but on May 14, 2005, we will be headed for Florida. We will spend 4 days at Disney World while staying at the Polynesian Resort on the property. Then it is off to a 3 day cruise to Nassau with Disney Cruise Lines. When we return, we plan to spend a day at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral.

Then we fly to Atlanta, GA where I grew up. We will check into a hotel at Stone Mountain, then by rental car, head north to the Appalachian foothills where my mom's parents owned 80 acres. I call it the mountain house.

The next day, we will head to Juliette, GA where "Fried Green Tomatoes" was filmed. Then north to MacDonough where my grandparents lived and died. Then we head further north to Decatur where I grew up. Swinging west, we will head toward downtown Atlanta and see where my folks lived and grew up. That day we will end up in west Atlanta where my other grandparents are buried.

Then we fly to Virginia Beach, VA where Deni's sister and family live. Hopefully, we will make it to Wash D.C. and swing over to Bowie, Md where I spent my jr. high school years.

Then a couple more days in Virginia to cool our heals and it's back home to Washington state.

Whew!

This blog site will be the depository of photos and boring stories of our trip, so stay tuned. We are very excited.
